Q: I can't edit the 'Expected harvest' for yesterday. How do I update my weekly plan?
You cannot change a harvest prediction for a day that has already passed. Instead, you should record what actually happened and adjust your plan for the future.
Follow these two steps:
Record the actuals: For the past day, enter the amount you harvested in the 'Realized Harvest' field. The system will now show both your original expectation and the actual result.
Adjust the future: Update the 'Expected harvest' amounts for today and all upcoming days to reflect your new weekly goal. This ensures your forward-looking plan is accurate.
Q: Why is the 'Expected harvest' field locked for past dates?
This is intentional and designed to ensure data integrity. The 'Expected harvest' is your forecast. A historical record of what you predicted would happen. The 'Realized harvest' is the actual outcome.
By keeping the past forecast locked, you can accurately compare what you planned versus what happened, which is crucial for improving future predictions.
Q: Yesterday's harvest was 5,000 kg lower than expected. Can't I just add 5,000 to today's expectation to make the weekly total correct?
While mathematically this would balance the weekly total, we strongly advise against it.
Adding a past deficit to today's expectation makes your forecast for today inaccurate. It misrepresents your true harvesting capacity and plan for the current day. The correct method is to first log yesterday's 'Realized harvest' and then adjust the expectations for the coming days to create a realistic and accurate forward looking plan.
Q: How can I indicate that is use Ethylene in Harvest Forecast?
If you're applying Ethylene at the end of the season, you can still rely on the total kilos shown in Harvest Forecast. These are accurate, but the timing of when they will become harvestable will shift because the Ethylene speeds up the ripening.
To reflect this in Harvest Forecast:
Go to the week after your final planned harvest
Adjust the colour scale down to 3
Set rounds to 100% per day
This will remove all fruit from the plant and show you the full kilos available. You can then spread that total over the actual weeks you'll be harvesting.
Note: This is a temporary workaround while we build the ability to indicate Ethylene use directly in the tool.
