Ratio of water uptake to light

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Description

Water uptake (computed by Irrigation Control) divided by total light sum.

Formula

Water uptake (dL/m²) divided by the total light sum (MJ/m²) over the period from sunrise to sunrise.

Explanation

Water uptake by the plant depends on the amount of light. Typically this ration is around 1.7 dL/MJ for a healthy tomato crop.

Example

3.4 l/m2 water uptake = 34 dL/m2

2000 J/cm2 * 10 000 = 20 000 000 J/m2

20 000 000 J/cm2 / 1000 000 = 20 MJ/m2

34 (dL/m2) / 20 (MJ/m2) = 1.7 dL/MJ
